DSA Timeline 2018


MGS invites Pri 6 pupils to participate in this year’s DSA exercise. An applicant may apply in more than 1 category.

CLOSING DATE: MONDAY, 2 JULY 2018, 5pm



Integrated Programme (Language Arts/Humanities and/or STEM)


For students to join our Integrated Programme at Year 1; a six-year through train programme that leads to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) in Year 5 & 6.

All applicants will be assessed based on their school results and personal portfolio. ONLY shortlisted applicants will be further notified to attend the IP Domain Assessment.

The 2 domains for DSA IP are IP STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) OR IP Language Arts/Humanities.

IP Domain Assessment
● Saturday, 21 July 2018, 8.00 am - 1.00 pm.
● Domain specific tasks and interview.



Music Elective Programme (MEP) (at O-Levels)


For students to join our Music Elective Programme

Instruments: Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Guitar, Voice

Criteria: A Grade 3 pass in both music practical and theory exams

Round 1:
● Submit a video performance of 2 contrasting works (3-8 minutes).
● A piano accompanist is required for Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass and Voice.
● No editing is allowed and the video cannot be professionally produced.
● Upload the video to any video uploading websites (e.g. YouTube, Google Drive).
● Provide the URL link during your DSA online application in the section under MEP.

Round 2: For shortlisted applicants on Saturday, 21 July 2018
● Aural Perception/Theory Test - 8.30am – 9.30am
● Interview with music teachers and school leaders – 9.30am onwards



Performing Arts – Dance (for O-Level track)


For students who demonstrate outstanding talents/ achievements and passion in International Dance.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for an audition on Monday, 16 July 2018, 3.00pm – 6.00pm, Dance Studio at Sports Complex.

Subsequently, only shortlisted candidates from the audition will be notified to attend an interview on Wednesday, 18 July 2018, 2.30pm to 4.00 pm at Finance Meeting Room.



Sports (for O-Level track)


For students who have outstanding sports achievements at recognized competitions in – Golf, Netball, Softball, Squash, Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Tennis, Tenpin Bowling to join Team MGS.

Places offered through DSA are conditional pending the pupil’s PSLE results which determine her eligibility for admission to the Express Stream.

Successful DSA-Sec students are NOT allowed to participate in the Secondary One Posting Exercise to opt for secondary schools; and are also NOT allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results. They are expected to honour their commitment to the posted DSA School for the duration of the programme they are admitted to.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

How to Apply


Please read the following instructions carefully before you begin your ONLINE application process.

1. You will need the following information and supporting documents (in softcopy) for upload during the application:

a) Personal Particulars
- Include a passport photo of applicant; JPEG format; not exceeding 2MB in size

b) Education Background
- Pri 4 and 5 overall results, Pri 6 Mid-year results (or equivalent)

c) Parent's/Guardian's Particulars

d) Personal Portfolio (Guidelines to Personal Portfolio.pdf)
- Supporting documents e.g. Music certificates, Dance RAD certificates, Testimonials, and other achievement/award certificates etc

e) Personal Statement
- Provide a short paragraph about yourself, your interests or what is important to you. How do these make you suitable for the MGS IP/Talent areas you are applying for?

2. Certified true copies of certificates or testimonials will ONLY be requested for shortlisted applicants.

3. A pupil may apply for a place through more than one category. Every applicant is required to pay an administration fee of S$20.

The administration fee should be in a cheque made payable to Methodist Girls' School.

Applicants not studying in MOE schools


1. DSA Registration Number

Applicants who are not studying in MOE schools are required to obtain a DSA Registration Number (RGxxxxxxx), before submitting your DSA application. You can approach MOE Customer Service Centre (CSC), starting from Monday, 7 May 2018.

2. All International Students are required to take part in the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) before you are considered for DSA-Sec Allocation. International Students who fails AEIS or do not qualify for the course which the schools offer will not be considered for DSA- Sec allocation.
