Applied Learning Programme
Discover how MGS's Applied Learning Programme brings language lessons to life through real-world tasks, building students' communication skills and curiosity across all primary levels.
In MGS, we aim to deepen our students’ learning by providing meaningful opportunities for them to have real-world applications of their classroom learning. We integrate ALP with our English and Mother Tongue Language lessons, to foreground the development of their language skills and in particular, their communication skills. Through ALP, we create authentic contexts and audiences for the students to hone their communication and language skills. We also hope to cultivate the joy of learning in our students as well as encourage them to explore different ideas and discover new skills.
The committee aims to:
inculcate values which include respect, resilience and responsibility;
develop socio-emotional competencies and 21st century competencies (which include communication and collaboration skills, critical and inventive thinking);
spark curiosity in the students
The committee adopts the following approaches:
ensures that the ALP content allows for deep learning and application of the skills which are taught and learnt during language lessons;
designs and plans the level ALP based on our students’ profile, interests and learning preferences;
