Our vision is to grow the MGS girl into a self-directed learner and empathetic communicator through creative language expression.
Through the teaching and learning of the English language in MGS, we hope to develop students who are:
Empathetic Communicators who possess the values, dispositions and skills to listen actively to different perspectives and use language creatively and purposefully to contribute to the community.
Discerning Readers who are well-informed in the use of information, and are able to distinguish fact from falsehood by critically processing and evaluating information according to purpose, audience, context and culture.
Creative Inquirers who explore and evaluate real-world issues and different perspectives as well as synthesise information from diverse print, non-print and digital networked sources.
Our P1 to P6 English syllabus is developed based on the MOE English Syllabus 2020 and is closely aligned to the STELLAR (Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading) Programme.
STELLAR aims to strengthen both language and reading skills as well as promote a positive attitude towards reading in the foundational years through the use of evidence-based, learner-centred and developmentally appropriate pedagogical approaches.

Early Intervention Support at MGS
Learning Support Programme (LSP) and School-based Dyslexia Remediation (SDR) are MOE-developed early intervention efforts to help students strengthen their basic literacy skills. In MGS, LSP and SDR are conducted by trained teachers and allied educators.

Reading Rocks! is an early morning reading programme to help lower primary pupils who need support in their reading development. Through these reading sessions, our teachers and parent volunteers guide our students in their reading, oral and comprehension skills.
